Plot summary: Alphonse and Edward Elric are two brothers that have lost their mother. Missing her badly, they try to revive her using the forbidden science of human alchemy, but this works on the theory of equivalent trade, so upsetting the human alchemy balance costs them something equally crucial in return. Ed loses a leg, and Al his entire body. Ed manages to seal Al's soul inside a huge armor suit, but also paying for this with one of his own arms. When they are older, Ed, with two mechanical limbs, and Al, still trapped inside the armor, leave their natal grounds in pursuit of completeness for each other. Ed is now known as the "Fullmetal Alchemist" because of his extensive knowledge and talent for alchemy. They both try to achieve their goal through a mythical item called the Philosopher's stone, that could bring them back their old bodies. searching for any piece of information about the item, they hope to get to it first, if it exists at all, considering that they are not the only ones that search for the power and might the stone bring to its possessor.
