Nickelodeon buys the “Ninja Turtles” for $60 million. What's next?
October 23, 2009
Remember the famous cartoons and movies with the Ninja Turtles, way back in the '80, '90? If you do, this means you are as old as I am, you like pizza, and you'll be interested in knowing that, the children's brand, Nickelodeon has bought the entire rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, from the Mirage Group, for $60 million.
This gives us hope that the new ninja movie, featuring Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Master Splinter, which is due to hit the screens in 2012, will have a different, more realistic approach and live-action scenes. Also in 2012, Nick is planning to release an animated TV series with the four Turtles, and both it and the movie will be produced by the Paramount Pictures.
What we don't know, is who the movie will target: the younger audience, the adults, or it will be an “all-audiences” film?
