Avatar - latest movie trailer

November 2, 2009

Appearing on cinema screens worldwide on December, 18th, Avatar represents the pinnacle of ten years of work for director James Cameron. As such, the movie represents another milestone for Cameron, who last directed in 1997 the highest grossing film of all times, Titanic, and the winner of eleven Oscars, including Best Picture.

Already famous through its movie trailers for the state of the art digital effects and almost complete CG imagery, including completely animated characters, Avatar can hope to bring Cameron some more, well deserved, praises. WETA Digital, the company that is famous for the collaborative work done for movie like The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, will make use of new intuitive CGI technologies that will transform the environments and characters of the Avatar world into photorealistic 3D imagery, which can be sampled through the latest movie trailer below.

Avatar tells the story of world called Pandora, where human kind plans to develop mining activities in order to extract a highly valuable stone for people back on Earth. An ex-Marine paralytic soldier volunteers to have his mind embedded into a body genetically recreated by scientists, which represents a cross breed between humans and the native aliens. As an Avatar, meaning a human mind into an alien body, he discovers that soon he will have to make a choice, between his own survival and that of the native fascinating people.
