Twilight: Eclipse will be released in IMAX in 2010
December 10, 2009
Looks like Twilight fans will finally get a good huge dose of their favorite characters on screen: Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, since Summit Entertainment and IMAX have announced that the next Twilight installment Eclipse will debut on IMAX cinemas.
Summit Entertainment and IMAX made this announcement on Wednesday, Dec. 9, explaining that "Twilight moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series, with the enhanced image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience putting them IN the movie," said Richie Fay, President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution for Summit. "The IMAX release puts us on the event film calendar for 2010, and we're very excited to work with IMAX to bring a new kind of film to the IMAX theatre network."
Eclipse has not been filmed with the purpose of being viewed on IMAX screens, but it can and will be remastered for The IMAX Experience with Samsung's IMAX DMR technology. Directed by David Slade, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse features the same three famous actors from previous films: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.
This IMAX Experience sounds pretty good for Eclipse, since this is one of the most action-filled installments of the books. In Eclipse, the werewolves fight against a bunch of newborn vampires created by Victoria, who seeks to take revenge on Edward by killing Bella. The crazed vampires attack little Forks and there will be a total showdown between the two supernatural worlds.
The currently Twilight Saga: New Moon is breaking tops at box office grossing more than $256 milion in US and over $500 million worldwide.
