Avatar passes the $700m mark in US, Bigelow expected to win Oscar
March 1, 2010
While box office blockbuster Avatar is surpassing every movie record ever imagined in terms of income (the past week, Avatar just toppled the $700 million mark in US), direct competitor, in business and personal plans, The Hurt Locker is expected to bring in at least an Oscar for Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow. If Bigelow wins, she will be the first women ever to win the Oscar award for directing. Her ex husband James Cameron, that directed Avatar, is said to encourage and root for her as the Oscar gala is on its way this week. We are highly anticipating the event, as all movies nominated this year for Best Motion Picture and Best Director are exceptionally good ones. Avatar, Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, and Inglorious Basterds are all movies that people will keep in mind as 2009's best movies.
Meanwhile, check out these funny trailers from the upcoming Alice in Wonderland, scheduled to appear on March the 5th.
