My Wii fit balance board is not calculating my weight correctly anymore. I can't figure out what's wrong but I'm thinking it has to do something with the new carpet. I changed the carpet in my room, and since then it's telling me I weigh less than 15lb than my normal scale. Am I being absurd or is the board broken?

Hello Chris,

Nope, you're not being absurd. :) Truth is, a lot of people have had this problem meaning that any soft surface such as a carpet or even a special yoga mattress can make the wii fit board “lose” a couple of pounds.

The board has to stay on a hard flat surface so that your weight is evenly distributed only on the board itself, and not the surrounding surface. You can make sure the board is properly positioned if you add the foot extensions which came along with the board.

If you need help with this check out the instructions from Nintendo here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/setupBalanceBoard.jsp#foot. With the foot extensions installed it is safe to use the board on most carpets. Good luck with your Wii Fit training!
