Wii Accessories

Almost two years and a half have passed from the release of Nintendo Wii and since then, 50 million people have bough the new console and the number continues to grow. As it was expected, a real industry of accessories has evolved around the Wii, containing all sorts of controllers, weapons, fitness kits and much, much more, of different colors and at different prices. The main part of the accessories available now on the market was developed to offer an even more realistic touch to the Wii virtual games.

As usual, there are available two types of accessories – the original ones which are made or approved by the developing company and more or less reliable third party accessories. To protect a $250 investment is always best to buy the most compatible and trust-worthy accessories, so you don't run the risk of damaging the console.

The basic accessories you can get is another “Wii Remote” and a “Nunchuck” which will allow multiplayer gaming with friends. The two pieces can be bought separately or together in a kit; the remote has a price of 40$ and the Nunchuck costs more or less 20$. The accessories can be bought from the online Nintendo store, or on BestBuy.com. The “Classic Controller” is sold at a price of $20 and will allow you to play some virtual games in a more traditional way; keep in mind that the controller needs to be attached to the “Wii Remote”. After buying these accessories, you can also purchase the “Wii Zapper”, which will unite the remote with the nunchuck for a more comfortable play. The “Zapper” is sold at a price of $25 on BestBuy.

The accessories for the Wii Sports games comprise a golf club, a tennis racket, a baseball bat, a steering wheel, and a pair of box gloves and are meant to offer more authenticity to the virtual games. These accessories can be sold separately or in various kits; one of these kits is the “The Grand Slam Sports Pack” which can be bought for $20 on Amazon. A pair of gloves has a medium price of $30 and can be bought in different colors from BestBuy or Amazon.

For the Wii Fit game, you can buy as accessories a Wii Fit Mat – which is sold for almost $30 or less (there is also a mat officially licensed by Nintendo) or the “Wii Fit Workout Kit” available for 40$ on Amazon and which contains a rechargeable battery pack, a mat, two 2-lb weights, a water bottle and a towel.

Other accessories are different types of guns: Wii Perfect Shot Gun, Wii Multifunction Gun, Wii Buzz Shotgun, Wii Magnum Gun, SureShot Rifle which are sold at a medium price of 20$ on Amazon. There is also available a Wii Combat Pack composed of two soft swords and a shield at a price of 20$.

Due to the fact that the Wii comes with a storage capacity of only 512 MB, an extra gaming memory can be considered an important accessory. From SanDisk you can buy a SD card of 2GB at a price of $15. The Wii Speak accessory allows friends to talk to one another through the Wii Speak Channel; the price of the Wii Speak is of $30 at BestBuy.

On line you can find even more accessories and also accessories for the accessories, such as silicon gloves for the controllers or for the balance board, or hands grips and much, much more items with a specific purpose or not.
