Michael Cera-from "Nick and Norah's Infinite playlist"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Movie Review

Genre: Comedy & Drama
Cast: Michael Cera, Kat Dennings, Rafi Gavron, Ari Graynor
Directo
r: Peter Sollett

Based on the book with the same title, by Rachel Cohn, who did Norah's thoughts, and David Levithan who wrote Nick, the movie goes for the hip, recognizable action teenager night where, if you are or ever was an indie-pop-rock fan, you'll definitely fall for what's going on between the two characters.

Michael Cera playing Nick is of course, of no disappointment, although his part is not that wittingly smart as in Superbad or sensitive cute as in Juno. The part brought in by Kat Dennings playing Norah adds substance and the cool factor to the movie, depicting a self-aware teenage girl with a crisp view of life, addiction for music and sarcastic attitude.

The two of them meet one Saturday night when they go out separately but in the same club, where Nick is playing with his self-declared queercore band. When Norah spots Tris, her arch-enemy who also happens to be Nick's ex girlfriend, she makes a desperate proposal to Nick to be her boyfriend for five minutes. Because Nick was dumped by Tris on his b-day, he accepts and the night unfolds with plenty of teenage drama, comedy and romance.

Sure, the jokes are easy-smart, the action almost resembles a teen flick, but you know the two of them are for real because you know things like this just happen, as a part of the adolescent-maturity crisis of any typical high schooler. If you see the movie and like it, you will recognize the atmosphere as your own past, or present, and maybe have a good laughs along with the movie.

That's why I would recommend it with plenty of popcorn and some good long-time friends. Be careful though with the gay harmless element of the movie, some people were influenced with repeating their confused teenage experiences. :) All in all, just take the movie as an easy dish of fun and sorry for those who will not like it, it just demonstrates that they've completely missed out on their adolescence.
