Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Movie Review

Genre: cartoon
Cast: Ray Romano as Manny, Queen Laifah as Ellie, Chris Wedge as Scrat, Denis Leary as Diego, John Leguizamo as Sid
Director: Carlos Sldanha

The third sequel of the Ice Age movie – Down of the Dinosaurs – manages to keep us engrossed for 94 minutes thanks to the atypical herd, the new adventures, and most of all to the humorous dialogue, which shows, once again, that cartoons aren't just for kids. And talking about kids, from the beginning of the movie we find out that Ellie and Manny are preparing to be parents, Sid wants some kids of his own and Diego wants none of the above. Of course the picture wouldn't be complete without Crash and Eddie, and without Scrat, the prehistoric squirrel, who in its restless attempt to catch the acorn falls in love with Scratte, a well shaped, female squirrel.

This family portrait goes crazy when Diego decides to leave the herd and when Sid finds by mistake 3 eggs in an underground cave. With his specific enthusiasm Sid adopts the eggs which turn out to be 3 baby dinosaurs. The trouble appears when the mother-dinosaur comes looking for her kids and takes all three of them + Sid in the “luxuriant” Dinosaurs world. Needless to say that the herd reunites itself and starts looking for the troublesome Sid in the underground world. With the help of Buck, a weasel which resembles captain Jack Sparrow in many ways, the gang manages to find Sid, defeat Rudy, and to safely return to the Ice Age, also carrying this time little Peaches.

Ice Age 3 is definitely the best movie from its series, succeeding to offer kids, parents and grandparents a blast. Regarding the fact that the movie can be seen in 3D can be considered a plus, but my opinion is that even if it wasn't 3D its success would have been the same.
