PSP Go hacked after a couple of days from release
October 6, 2009
Just fresh out of the oven, the PSP Go is already hacked by FreePlay, proving that the newest gadget in hand-held gaming is not hacker-proof.
FreePlay is best known for his work done on the Sparta SDK, and his more recent “discussions” with Team Mack. So although Go is now open to homebrewing, there are a few disclaimers that the developer wished to point out:
- The exploit that he used to hack the PSP Go was already known, but it was abandoned for other projects.
- The hack will not be released, neither the name of the game used in the exercise. The hack is just a “proof-of-concept”, and it will remain private as long as there are no valid reasons for its release.
- The exploit is in user-mode only, so there is no flash modification involved, no piracy, no advanced custom themes, no plugins.
So we can't know for sure if the exploit will be available for the public, but at least we have the unmistakable proof that PSP Go can be homebrewed sooner or later.
