iPhone can start your car
October 15, 2009
From the multitude of applications developed for iPhone, here's one that actually makes sense and is even very useful: Viper SmartStart.
This app allows you to remotely start, lock / unlock, heat / cool your car with a touch of a finger. All you need is the SmartStart system installed on your car, which can cost up to $500, and the SmartStart iPhone application, which you can download for free. Regarding the range covered by the system, it's “virtually unlimited”, as long as you have cell phone signal.
Unfortunately, as any other technical system, Viper SmartStart has a few restrictions, such as: you need to go to authorized retailer for installation; you need to have a “new generation” car if you want to benefit from the entire features, and the system can not be used outside U.S.A.
So, this winter you can say goodbye to icy seats :) and bank robbers can say hello to a new tool!
