Wii Balance Board: more than a gaming accessory, a medical device

January 20, 2010

It seems that the Wii Balance Board is not just a fun gaming device, but it's also a very useful medical tool. According to some researchers at the University of Melbourne in collaboration with the Physiotherapy Department from Singapore General Hospital, the Wii Balance Board is capable of testing quite accurately a patient's balance and equilibrium. The big plus is that in comparison with medical equipments meant to test such abilities, the Balance Board is smaller, has a wider availability and can be purchased for less than $99.

So, don't be surprised if the next time you'll visit your doctor you'll see the Wii Balance Board in his office.

The Wii Balance Board is not the first gaming device to be tested for medical purposes, its competitor Xbox 360 can be used for detecting heart defects and preventing heart attacks. You can read more on this subject here: Xbox used to diagnose heart conditions

I honestly expect that private giant companies will improve and dominate very aspect of our lives... starting with the wii balance board. In the future, you could step on the board and it tells you if you are pregnant, provide on screen scans of the baby, how smart you are and what are your chances in life to succeed....:))
But for now, balance tests are pretty good too.

Some time ago, I really needed to buy a building for my firm but I did not earn enough cash and couldn't order anything. Thank God my colleague adviced to get the home loans at reliable bank. Therefore, I did so and used to be happy with my financial loan.
