Amazon buys Touchco. Hello Kindle Touch!
February 5, 2010
Although this information hasn't been yet confirmed by Amazon, someone has hurried to spill the beans about Amazon's latest purchase. So, according to the New York Times, Amazon has acquired Touchco, a young company specialized in multi-touch resistive sensors (alias touch-screen technology). This can only mean that Amazon is preparing to release a new Kindle, which will benefit from a multi-touch and (maybe) colorful display, and which will compete with Apple's iPad.
Taking into account that on its website Touchco has left this note: “Thank you for your interest in Touchco. As of January 2010, the company is no longer doing business.”, chances are that in the next months we'll be reading about the newest Kindle Touch.
