Favorite PSP Games
by Collin Hilder | March 9, 2009
I would have wanted to write about the best PSP games, but after hours of Internet research and millions of questions towards my fanatic and not so game fanatic friends, colleagues and relatives, I realized that this matter is so subjective that it's almost impossible to know which game is the best.
The PSP games are limited by the requirements posed by the portability features of the small gadget, and so they have to meet the joystick interactivity of the Home Play Station version with just a few buttons; because of this, not all play station games have a PSP version. In this case, all I have to do is see which games are most present in different top ratings. I will not enumerate them as I don't want to leave a false impression of superiority of one game over another. Instead, I'll present 3 favorite games every week. So, the favorite PSP games of this week are:
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Is an action - adventure game developed exclusively for PSP by Ready at Down. The story line presents the adventures of Kratos in the service of Gods: fighting the Persian king, saving Helios from Titan Atlas, fighting Persephone, and much more; the confrontations resulted are very engaging and are dominated by magical weapons - magical gauntlet, sun shield, and magical spells. The core of the game evolves around the epic story of the fight between Gods for supremacy.
Released in 2008, the game "Chains of Olympus" is said to have reinvented 3-D action. The game presents itself as a well told story filled with great graphics, good controls, and impressive sound effects. The price can vary from $35 to $50.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City / Vice City Stories

Representing an action - adventure game, the first version of this game for PSP was released in 2005 - Liberty City, while the second was released in 2006 - Vice City. Both games have been developed by Rockstar North in association with Rockstar Leeds.
The plot of both games is set around Toni Cipriani, an ex-murderer, who after 3 years of hiding, meets Vincenzo and Salvatore and enters again in trouble by doing some of their dirty jobs. As a result, the action in the games involves destroying a casino, saving people, robbing shops, shooting, betrayal, following a Sicilian, escaping the police and much more action.
The PSP games are thought to be really close to the playstation versions in terms of quality and entertainment, succeeding to create through the Italian names, costumes and rap music, a “gangster atmosphere”. The games have good graphics, good weather effects, even snow and a very good story line.We can even say that they are new games played in an old neighborhood.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Is an action role - playing game developed by Square Enix for PSP, which appeared in 2008.The story line evolves around Zack Fair - a Soldier 2 class who aspires to become a 1st class Soldier; that means to be a part of the skilled combat elite group within the Shinra Electric Group Company.
Along the game, Zack will develop strong relationships with new and old characters, such as Cloud or Aerith, transforming the game into an emotion fulfilling story. Because of this, and in order to understand the game better, it is important to have basic knowledge of the Final Fantasy VII series or of the popular animation movie: Advent Children.
The real time combat filled with magic, the smooth game controls and the gorgeous graphics make Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII a worthy prequel of Final Fantasy VII played on PS1. So, if you love the Japanese playstation series you will certainly enjoy the PSP version. The price range is between $29 and $39.
