PSP Accessories / Part 2
by Robert Stevens | June 8, 2009
Even if the PSP is widely known as a gaming device, it is more than that; the PSP is a complete entertainment gadget offering us the possibility to listen to music, see movies, connect to Internet and even talk to one another through the Skype service.
In order to benefit from the Skype service it's a must to install Skype on the PSP and to buy an adequate pair of headsets. If in the past were needed 2 products: a headset with a microphone and a remote control, now on the market, is available a kit which combines these 2 elements together. The new product is called “PSP Headset with Remote Control”, is compatible with PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 (Attention! PSP 1000 can't benefit from the Skype application, as it doesn't have the needed memory) and is sold at a medium price of $30.
Other headsets are the “Headphones with Remote Control” compatible only with the PSP 1000. Attention! When it comes to headsets / headphones and earphones it is important to always check with what PSP models are compatible. Also, when buying such an accessory it's important to pay attention to the quality of the headsets, because a doubtful quality can have a negative effect on both our PSPs and ears.
When traveling another important accessory, apart from the traveling case, which was presented in the article “PSP Accessories – Part 1”, is the car adapter. Such an item is meant to fuel the PSP with energy to last for the entire car trip. A "Sony PSP Car Adapter" can be bought from “Best Buy” and costs more or less $25.
If until now we have presented very practical and useful accessories now it's time to offer a colorful alternative. At ColorWare we can send the PSPs to be colored in more then 30 solid and metallic colors. Practically we can color in a different color the tray, back, logo area and L&R buttons. A complete make over can cost up to $200. A cheaper way to personalize the PSP are the face plates, which can be found on line in more colors and having different drawings.
In comparison with the iPhone, the PSP can't have so many accessories because it doesn't have so many functions. But, no matter the accessories and what it can and can't do, the PSP remains a great gaming device.
