The movie pictures, in a comic book style, early struggles from Batman. From childhood when he witnessed the cruel death of his parents to a grown adult learning to tame his wish for revenge under the patronage of ninja cult leader, Ra's Al-Ghul.
Upon returning to Gotham City he finds the town decayed, run by organized crime and his company falling apart. When he discovers a cave under his mansion and a special armored suit, he also finds a new path in front of him, a dangerous path of secret identity, striking fear in the hearts of wrong-doers, by becoming Batman.
With help from cop Jim Gordon, Batman has to fight mafia, twisted doctor/drug dealer Jonathan "The Scarecrow" Crane and something else lurking around him, knowing him well, waiting to strike in a moment of weakness...
