Playing music and video files
In order to access information, change settings, play music & video files or scroll through onscreen lists use the Click Wheel and Center button.
- Search for the file you wish to play by sliding your thumb lightly round the Wheel until you have reached the desired item and then click the Center button to select the item.
- To return to the previous menu, click "Menu" on the Click Wheel.
- When reaching the desired song, movie or picture, click "Play".
- For skipping to other files in the playlist, click the "Next" tab. (randomly selected, if Shuffle function is enabled).
- For returning to the beginning of the file, click the "Previous" tab.
- For going to the last file played, click the "Previous" tab twice.
Running audiobooks or podcasts
- Audiobooks and podcasts ar played exactly like songs or videos.
- Furthermore, if the selected files include chapters, you can jump to the next chapter or return to the begging of the current one by clicking the "Next" or previous tabs.
- When pausing the playing of the audiobook or podcast, at the moment of your return the respective file will start playing where you paused.
Tips for improving the playback duration
- Although an iPod will turn off automatically after two minutes of inactivity, click and hold down the "Play" button in order to shut down the moment you are finished. Afterwards, move the "Hold" switch in the Hold position to secure the iPod from accidentally turning back on.
- Switch off the "Backlight Timer" by clicking Settings > Backlight Timer and clicking "Off".
- Concerning the level of brightness on your iPod, you can save energy by reducing it. On some iPods it is possible to select Settings > Brightness , and scroll on the Click Wheel until the slider is positioned in such a way that the screen is darker.
- It is better to choose entire albums or playlists than to choose each file one by one.
- You should try not clicking Next or Previous tabs to skip current tracks.
